The meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm after a one hour study session. LOCATION: 74-121 Highway III ZONE: C-1 Mr. Smith indicated that at study session the commission was opposed to allowing signage on the sides of the awning. Therefore , it was moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Leung to deny the request for signage on the sides of the awning. Carried 4-0. 2. CASE NO: APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): THE GOLD SHOP, 72-320 E1 Paseo, 'aim Desert, CA 92260 NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of awning with signage. LOCATION: 72-320 E1 Paseo 3 +per "at MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION DECEMBER 10, 1985 Mr. Smith explained that the commission, at study session, felt that there should be some redesigning done on the awning so that it would continue to the soffit over the door so that it looks connected to the building. Moved by Commission Cook, seconded by Commissioner Leung to refer this case back to the applicant for restudy. Carried 4-0 3. CASE NO: 280 C APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): I . HAROLD HOUSLEY, 74-091 Larrea Street, Palm Desert, CA 92260; HOLDEN & JOHNSON, 73-330 E1 Paseo, Suite B, Palm Desert, CA 92260. NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Request for final plan approval . LOCATION: West side of Monterey, 90 feet south of Sonora Drive. ZONE: OP S.P. Commissioner Martin suggested that the copper remain on the building and indicated that he had no problems with the proposal . Moved by Commissioner Martin, seconded by Commission Leung to grant final approval . Carried 4-0. 4. CASE NO: 878 SA APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): RUSTY PELICAN, 2862 McGan Avenue, Irvine, CA 92714; JOHN HOWENSTINE, INC. , 3188 J Airway Avenue, Costa Mesa, CA 92626. NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of second sign. LOCATION: Northwest corner Highway III and Painters Path. ZONE: The applicant was requesting approval for the second existing sign. Moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Martin to approve this case subject to the existing signs being removed. Carried 4-0 4 Ifto MlNWTE6 ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION DECEMBER 10^ 1905 5, }88 MF APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): DESERT FALLS GOLF COURSE NATURE OF PROJECTAPPROVAL SOUGHT: Architectural approval of a temporary business identification sign. North aide of Country Club oast of Cook Street. ZONE: PR-3 Mr. Smith indicated that city council had approved a temporary sign through April 15, 1986 for the golf course. Moved by Commissioner Martin, seconded by Commissioner Cook to approved the sign as submitted. Carried 4-0 6. l07\ SA APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS) : 6lGNTEC1-1, 4520 Federal Blvd, San Diego, CA 92102 for Cinema 10. NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of two additional signs and a change to one existing sign. Palm Desert Town Center' The applicant was requesting to replace the existing Cinema 7 sign with o Cinema }U sign, adding a marque sign over the entry of the new theaters and adding a freestanding monument aign at the north entrance of Monterey Avenue, Moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Leung to approve the signs as submitted. Carried 4-0 IV. DISCUSSION ITEMS: t. Q @ A SHADE COMPANY for M. Framma Jewelers - Awning Mr. Droll indicated that he would suggest that the proposed awning be extended to cover the corner of the bui )ding. Not be two separate awnings. 5 ^ ilow MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION 0ECEMBER 10" 1905 Commissioner Cook agreed with the staff recommendation to close in the end of the awning to make it one piece. 2.
