LOCATION: 72-624 E1 Paseo ZONE: PC (3) S.P. 10. CASE NO: 1047 SA APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): PORTALS, 73-280 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260. NATURE OF PROJECTIAPPROVAL SOUGHT: Sign approval . NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of awning with signage. LOCATION: South side El Paseo in E1 Paseo Village. ZONE: C-1 S.P. Commission concurred that the drawings were not complete in that a detailed section and elevation drawing were necessary. It was also noted that the yellow (gold) color was too harsh. Moved by Commissioner Holden, seconded by Commissioner Cook to continue this case for additional drawings. Carried 2-0 4 *me 100f MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 24, 1985 2. CASE NO: 1044 SA APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): THE CHILI DOG HOUSE, 72-624 E1 Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260. NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of business identification sign. LOCATION: 72-624 E1 Paseo, Chazan Center ZONE: PC-3 Commissioner Holden thought that the sign and the lettering were fine but that he would like the doo house to be removed. Mr. Doug Camper, applicant, explained that the graphics on the sign help to identify the business. He asked if the sign facing the courtyard could have the dog house on it. Commissioner Cook indicated that he felt that the applicant could increase the size of lettering on the sign if the graphics were deleted. He felt that the graphics should be deleted from both the signs. The applicant indicated that the red color of the letters would be the same as the sign to the east (Sports Fever) . Moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Holden to approve the sign with the deletion of the graphics with the letters to be increased if the applicant wishes to do so. 3. CASE NO: 62 C Amendment APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): GALLERIA, 73-111 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260. NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of a freestanding awning with signage. LOCATION: South side E1 Paseo east of Ocotillo. ZONE: C-1 S.P. Commissioner Holden had concerns with the awning not being compatible with the architecture of the building and that it did not relate to the restaurant entrance. 5 MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION SEPTEMBER 24. 1985 Mr. Fox indicated that the awning could be moved if another tree was removed or the bell front of the awnina was made flat. Commissioner Cook noted that he would prefer that the tree be removed if the awning was belled on both ends. Mr. Diaz questioned if the Palm Desert Property Owner's Association had aranted approval for this awning. The applicant did not have approval from the association. He questioned if there would be a problem with the awning having a three foot overhang on the sidewalk. Mr. Smith informed the applicant that he must speak with public works department for this information. It was moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Holden to continue this case to allow Palm Desert Property Owner's Association approval . Carried 2-0 4. CASE NO: 164 C APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): CARVER MANAGEMENT CORP, 559 S. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Sprinas, CA 92262; BERNIE LEUNG, 73-960 E1 Paseo ##4. Palm Desert, CA 92260; MOBIL OIL CO. , c/o HILLYARD & ASSOC. , P.O. Box 256, Balboa Island, CA 92662. NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of changes to Mobil Oil Plans. LOCATION: Southeast corner of Monterey Avenue and County Club Drive. ZONE: PC (2) Commissioner Holden was concerned with the canopy remaining the same heiaht when the buildina heiaht was beina reduced. There was also concern about the rear of the building not being adequately screened. Commissioner Cook explained that the applicant may not need a wall at that point, but that landscaping could be utilized for screening. It was moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Holden to approve this case subject to the following conditions: 1. Carried 2-0 IV. DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1 . LETTER FROM JOE CICCHINI It was moved by Commissioner Holden, seconded by Commissioner Cook to receive and file the letter from Joe Cicchini . Carried 2-0 V.
