Mr. Smith explained that there had been a previous approval for
expansion of the building and now they are requesting approval of
identification signage. He indicated that he had meet with the
applicant and had convinced him to remove some of the signage he
was requesting.
Commissioner Cook expressed concern with the parapet mounted sign.
He felt that additional tenants in that center would also want a
parapet mounted sign if this sign were approved for that location.
He noted that if the business was a good one they wouldn't need this
signage. He indicated that this business will receive lots of auto
and pedestrian traffic.
Mr. Baum, representative, explained that the business would like to
obtain visibility from Highway III and add some life to that center
during the day. He stated that this is an up-scale business.
Commissioner Sullivan indicated he did not like the style of
lettering used on the parapet sign and felt it was too large. He
requested additional pictures of the surrounding businesses.
Chairman Gregory agreed that the lettering was large and asked if
the commission would have a favorable vote 1f the letters were
reduced in size. He also suggested that the signs be moved away
from the corner of the building.
It was moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Holden
to approve the two logo signs as shown on the walls. Carried 5-0
