Mr. Love explained that they had attempted to extend the cupola but feit it was unattractive. He thought that the awning along with the cupola imvroved the overall appearance. Commission discussed the loss of parking spaces, signage allowance, awning detaiis and the concerns over tt-ie torches. Chairm�n Gregory felt the cur�ola should be widened. Canmissioner Drury had no concerns with the cupola. She agreed that the awning did improve the appearance. CoRxnissioner McCrea thought the orpposal had improved but felt the cupola needed to be widened. It was moved by Commissioner Orury, seconded by Commissioner McCrea to approve the cupola with the condition that it be widened to the light fixture area on the front of the building and the height being a maximum 21 feet from grade. Carried 4-1 (Commissioner Cook oapose�i) . Moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Drury to deny the use of torches in the cupola. Motion died at a 2-2-1 vote. 3 � � MINUTES ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION FEBRUARY 24, 19�7 It was moved by Chairman Gregory, seconded by Commissioner Holden to approve the tqrches subject to the architect having complete ar�proval from the building department on the performance and safety provisions. Carried 3-2 (Commissioners' Cook � Drury opposed) . Moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Drury to grant conceptual approval of the proposed awning. Carried 5-0 2. NATURE OF PRO.IECT/APPROVA� SOUGNTs Approval of convex awning with s i anacae. LOCATION: North side of Highway 111 (next to Romeo's) . ZONE: C-1 S.P. Mr. Beatty explained the details of the proposed awning. He indicated that the awning would be installed under the pro,�ecting beams and that the name and address of the business would appear on the awning. The colors are to be burgundy with white lettering. It was moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Cnmmissioner Holden to arant approval as submitted. Carried 5-0 IV. DISCUSSION ITEMS: None V.
