It was moved by Commissioner Holden, seconded by Commissioner McCrea to
approve the minutes of December 23, 1986 as written. Carried 4-0
II. Moved by Commissioner Cook, seconded by Comnissioner McCrea to approve
the follaring cases by minute motion. Carried 4-0 (Chairman Gregory
abstaining on Case No. 321 C) .

Mr. Drell advised that this case should be continued for two weeks.
It was moved by Commissioner McCrea, seconded by Commissioner Holden
to continue this case for two weeks. Carried 4-0
IV. DISCUSSIQN ITEMS:
l . Mr. Smith explained that the changes made to the Brown Act now
require that any item to be discussed and voted on at a meeting must
appear on the agenda 72 hours prior to the meeting. The agendas
wiil be posted on the council chamber doors.

2. Mr. Smith informed the commission that Charles Martin had resigned
from the Architectural Commission because he was no longer a resident
of Palm Desert.
3. Mr. Weller explained the current information from the city attorney
on the fee for violators not obtaining building permits prior to
beginning work. He noted that the 10 times fee was not feasible and
that the attorney has recorr�nended a c i tat i on be i ssued cost $35 and
a one year suspension on the applicants state license. This action
will require the violator to appear in court before a judge. Mr.
Weller stated he would supply a formal update when additional
information is obtained.
