I. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 pm.

It was moved by Commissioner McCrea, seconded by Commissioner Drury to approve
the minutes of November 8, 1988, as submitted. Carried 4-0-1 (Chairman
Gregory abstained).
II. Moved by Commissioner Drury, seconded by Clcmni ;rnP . Holden to approve
the following cases by minute motion. Carried 5-0.
1. CASE NO: 1499 SA
APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): GOLDS SCHOOL, 73-855 Highway 111, Palm
Desert, CA 92260.
NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of "illuminated"
business identification sign.
LOCATICN: 73-855 Highway 111.

Condition of approval - that the sign be 6 inches from the top of
the parapet wall and that color proposal ##2 (white background, black
copy and yellow stripes) was accepted with the exception that the
white background be changed to an off-white background.

Approved with the re-enforcement that the awning must return to the
wall.

NATURE OF PROJECT/APPROVAL SOUGHT: Approval of sign program.
LOCATION: Palms to Pines West
ZONE: PC (3) S.P.
Mr. Smith reccamiended that a dark-brown background be used instead
of the proposed black background.
Ccm<nissioner Sullivan felt that the credit card logo was a repeat of
the signage and is not necessary.
It was moved by Commissioner McCrea, seconded by Ccimtissioner
Sullivan to approve this case with the condition that the credit
card logo be deleted and that a dark-brown background replace the
black background. Carried 5-0.
2. CASE NO: 1530 SA
APPLICANT (AND ADDRESS): CENTURY 21/EMERY REAL ESTATE, INC.,
73-180 Highway 111, Palm Desert, CA 92260.

and directory signs.
LOMTICN: 73-130 El Paseo.

CamLissioner Sullivan felt that the awning needed to be continued on
through the archway, because it looks as though it is just sitting
on the building.
It was moved by Commissioner Sullivan, seconded by Commissioner
McCrea to approve this case with the condition that the awning
continue through the archway and terminate on the other side and
matches the other side. Carried 5-0.

V. ORAL CCNtCATICNS:
Commissioner Drury asked who approved the green coyote sign that Allison
International has up.
Ccxmtissioner Sullivan informed the ccm ission that Reflections has put up
their sign with the cocktail glass, which the ccm mission did not approve.
Mr. Smith will look into these issues and report back to ccmuission.
