ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW COMMISSION
MAY 23, 1995
ZONE: R-1 10,000
Commission discussed at length the impacts of having
solid walls in the perimeter yards of corner lots when
they are this close to the street { i .e. 8 ' from curb) .
Commission determined that a wall this high (5 ' to 6 ' in
height to a maximum of 8 ' at the entry) is inappropriate
at this close to the street and would negatively impact
on the streetscape. Commission suggested that the
applicant may wish to consider an open fence ( i .e.
wrought iron) . As well, commission indicated that a
landscape plan would be necessary for the area outside
the wall .
Action•
It was moved by Commissioner Van Vliet, seconded by
Commissioner Urrutia, that the slumpstone wall as
proposed be rejected because a wall this high and this
close to the street would be inappropriate as it would
negatively impact on the streetscape. Motion carried
5-0 .
