PALM DESERT,
COUNCIL OF A
INTERIM CORE
ON THE NORTH
SAN LUIS REY.
OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING APPROVAL TO THE CITY
REQUEST FOR AN AMENDMENT TO THE PALM DESERT
AREA PLAN DELETING THE DRIVEWAY WHICH IS SHOWN
SIDE OF EL PASEO BETWEEN PORTOLA AVENUE AND
CASE NO. INTERIM CORE AREA PLAN AMENDMENT - 04-74
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did on the 18th day of Novem-
ber, 1974, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider an amend-
ment to the Palm Desert Interim Core Area Plan, filed by C. E.
MILLER, to change the plan by deleting the proposed frontage road
diversion near the intersection of Highway 111 and Monterey Avenue;
and,
WHEREAS, said application has complied with the requirements
of the "City of Palm Desert Environmental Quality Procedure Reso-
lution Number 74-14", in that this amendment is considered an on-
going project of the Interim Core Area Plan and is therefore, cov-
ered under the Negative Declaration given to the Interim Core Area
Plan, and;
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering
the testimony and arguments, if any, of all persons desiring to be
heard, said Planning Commission did find the following facts and
reasons to exist which support the approval of the Interim Core
Area Plan Amendment:
1. The proposed amendment does insure the protection of the
public health, safety, and general welfare.
2. Compatibility of the proposed amendment to the existing
and proposed development in the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of
the City of Palm Desert as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and con-
stitute the findings of the Commission in this case.
2. That it does hereby recommend approval to the City Council
of the requested Interim Core Area Plan Amendment deleting the pro-
posed frontage road diversion near the intersection of Highway 111
and Monterey Avenue (as shown in the attached diagram, Exhibit A),
subject to the following condition:

That no commercial establishments be developed within the
immediate area affected by this change, which would generate in-
tensive auto traffic and further problems of congestion. (This
condition will expire after final circulation plans for the general
area are developed, adopted, and implemented.)
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Plan-
ning Commission, held on the 16th day of December 1974, by the
following vote:
