A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING FINAL "CONDITIONS
OF APPROVAL" FOR SIGNAGE AND TRAMWAY/PATHWAY ACCESS TO
THE K-MART DEVELOPMENT AS REQUIRED BY RESOLUTION NO. 18,
CONDITIONS #3, #30, AND #33 THEREIN.
CASE NO. 14MF
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did stipulate under the
following conditions, that the Architectural Review Board complete
the following actions:
Condition No. 3: That prior to the issuance of any
building permits all detailed building plans, detailed landscaping
plans, lighting plans, sign plans, and material boards, shall be
considered and approved by the Architectural Review
the Planning Cotiuiiission. That upon the approval of
Board and
any final
plans by the Architectural Review Board and prior to any permits
being issued, the applicant shall submit to Staff two complete
and final sets of all plans to the Planning Division. Such plans
shall detail all of the revisions and changes required by the
Board.
Condition No. 30: The sign location and design shall
be referred back to the Architectural Review Board for considera-
tion and recommendation.
Condition No. 33: Regarding the proposed tramway/path-
way route (15 feet wide) along and adjacent to the sidewalk area
on the south side of store fronts, the applicant shall submit an
alternative as part of the construction plans to the Architectural
Review Board for consideration and approval, and;
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission did take into consideration
the recommendations of the Architectural Review Board at a public
meeting held by the Planning Commission on December 16, 1974.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission
of the City of Palm Desert, to APPROVE signage and tramway/path-
way access to the K-MART premises, subject to the attached chan-
ges.

PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the
Palm Desert Planning Commission held on December 16, 1974 by
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: SEIDLER, VAN DE MARK, MULLINS, WILSON
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: HUBBARD
ABSTAIN: NONE

CHANGES
CASE NO. 14 MF
1. That the sign plan as submitted be approved with the follow-
ing revisions:
a. Major sign be placed on the brick store front of K-MART
with the "K" being a maximum of 6 feet high and "M" "A"
"R" "T" being a maximum of 4 feet high. Sign shall be
centered on brick mass area as shown of Staff -revised
elevation.
b. The traffic control signs and parking signs shall be
earthen colors where possible. "No Parking" sign shall
be affixed to columns if possible. "Entrance" and "Exit"
signs shall be positioned at eye level, based upon the
typical seating position in automobiles. The sign posts
shall be collapsible in nature.
c. Roof line shall not be modified as shown on elevations
and renderings.
d. Option of duplicate treatment of major sign on brick
store front (opposite end of store front) shall be per-
mitted.
e. "Garden Center" and "Auto Service" signs are approved
as shown.
f. Signs must be in conformance with State codes.
g. Driveway can be aligned to center on major K-Mart sign
on brick store front.
h. No other signage shall be permitted (this includes any
form of signage on glass areas).
2. That the alternate tramway/pathway proposal is approved to
include the following provisons:
a. The sidewalk be extended to 16 feet in width along the
south sides of store fronts.
b. Tree wells in front of K-Mart store be positioned to mini-
mize conflict with the sign location, but retain the ver-
tical palm effect shown on the rendering if possible.
c. Recessed bus/car stop shall be provided as shown (15 feet
x 50 feet) .
