RESOLUTION NO. 31
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF PALM DESERT SELECTING A PROJECT AREA
FOR THE PALM DESERT REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (PROJECT
AREA NO. 1)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert
has heretofore designated a "Survey Area" for consideration of
studying the selection of one or more "Project Areas" pursuant
to the California Community Redevelopment Law; and
WHEREAS, the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency and
the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert have coopera-
tively determined that the area hereinafter described is a
blighted area, within the meaning of the Community Redevelopment
Law of the State of California, and that the redevelopment of
such area is necessary to effectuate the public purposes of
the Community Redevelopment Law, and that the area hereinafter
designated as the "Project Area" is within the Survey Area
designated by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning
Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, that there is
hereby designated as a Project Area, the redevelopment of which
is necessary to effectuate the public purposes of the Community
Redevelopment Law, all of that area the boundaries of which are
described in Exhibit "A" hereto, which Exhibit "A" is hereby
incorporated by reference herein as if set forth at length, which
shall be known as "Project Area No. 1", which boundaries are further
illustrated on the map marked Exhibit "B" hereto.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission
staff is hereby directed to prepare in cooperation with the staff
of and consultants to the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency, a
preliminary plan for redevelopment of the Project Area No. 1.

EXHIBIT A: DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT ARE NUMBER 1
The boundaries for Project Area Number 1 generally are as follows:
Beginning at a point three hundred feet north of Highway 111 on the
eastern City boundaries westward to Deep Canyon Road, continuing
westward along the northern boundaries of the parcels immediately to
the north of Alessandro to San Carlos.
Then north on San Carlos to San Gorgonio westward on San Gorgonio to Las Palmas
and south on Las Palmas to the alley extension of Alessandro.
Then, westward along the alley to Monterey Avenue and north to Rancho
Grande. Then west to Fair Haven Drive and north to 44th Avenue. Westward
along 44th to a point.1 mile west of Fair Haven, then north to Park View
Drive and west to Highway 111. Then, northwest to the City limits and
southwest along the boundaries to the western edge of the City boundaries.
Then, south along the City limits to the midsection line of Section 19,
T5S, R5E, then east along the half section line to the Palm Valley Storm
Channel and north along the storm channel to Painters Path. Then, south-
eastward to State Highway 74 and south along the Highway to the
southern boundary of the parcel immediately east of Highway 74 and south of
El Paseo.
Then eastward along the southern boundaries of the parcels fronting El
Paseo to San Pablo and north along San Pablo to El Paseo. Then along
El Paseo to the western boundary of the parcel immediately west of
San Luis Rey, south along the western edge of the parcel and then east on the
southern boundary of the same parcel to San Luis Rey. Eastward along Larrea
to Lantana. Then north to the northern property line of the
parcel iuuuiediately north of LA.a,R, b°h and eastward along the
northern boundary of the same parcel to its northeastern corner. Then
north and east along the northern boundaries fronting Garden Square.
Then north to the southern boundary of the parcel immediately south
of Highway 111 and east along the southern boundaries of the parcels
south of Highway 111 to Deep Canyon Road and east along a line three
hundred feet south of Highway 111 to the eastern City limits and north
along the City limits of Palm Desert to a point three hundred feet north
of Highway 111.
