A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PALM
DESERT, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE CITY'S ANNUAL REPORT TO
THE COUNCIL ON INTER -GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS RELATIVE TO THE
CITY'S PLANNING ACTIVITIES.
WHEREAS, Section 34217 of the State Government Code requires the City of
Palm Desert to file an annual report to the Council on Inter -governmental Relations
regarding planning activities in the City for the previous fiscal year; and,
WHEREAS, such report has been prepared by the City Staff and presented
to the Planning Commission on October 19, 1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the City
of Palm Desert, California, does hereby approve the report as attached and labeled
Exhibit "A", and directs the Secretary to forward the report to the Council on Inter-
governmental Relations.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED by the Palm Desert Planning Commission, this
19th day of October, 1976, by the following vote, to wit:

tion will enable us to better understand your problems and needs and to attempt
to respond to them within our regular work program.
Local Issues
1. List and briefly describe the three main planning issues that affected your
jurisdiction during the 1975-76 fiscal year.
a. Adoption of new Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map - issued related to
density, mixing of land uses, and light industrial uses in commercial
areas.
Adoption of new Subdivision Ordinance - issue of park land dedications,
c. Adoption of new Sign Ordinance - issue of number, size, height, and lo-
cation of on -site and off -site signs.
2. What policy or policies has your jurisdiction adopted in dealing with each
of the above issues?

New Zoning Ordinance provides for careful control of development process
by Design Review Board and Planning Commission.
b.
Approved ordinance with park dedication requirements.
c. Planning Commission recommended to the City Council adoption of tough
new Sign Ordinance which would eliminate many existing signs in the
City.

3. What program or programs has your jurisdiction instituted to implement each
of the above policies?

and Zoning Map which rezoned several multi -family areas to single-
family.

Palm Desert's major concern is in preventing premature development
in unincorporated areas adjacent to our community in our sphere of
influence area.
