A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL
OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE GENERAL PLAN LAND
USE ELEMENT TO EXTEND THE EFFECTIVE AREA OF
THE PALM DESERT GENERAL PLAN TO INCLUDE THAT
PORTION OF THE NORTH HALF OF SECTION 6, EAST
OF HIGHWAY 74 AND DESIGNATING SAID AREA LOW
DENSITY RESIDENTIAL 3-5 DWELLING UNITS PER
ACRE) AND RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF A
NEGATIVE DECLARATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL
IMPACT AS IT PERTAINS THERETO.
CASE NO. GPA 02-83
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, did on
the 4th day of October, 1983, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider a request for
an amendment to the Palm Desert General Plan Land Use Element to extend the effective
area of the Palm Desert General Plan to include that portion of the north half of Section
6, east of Highway 74 and designating said area low density residential 3-5 dwelling units
per acre.
WHEREAS, said application has complied with the requirements of the "City of
Palm Desert Procedure for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act,
Resolution No. 80-89", in that the director of environmental services has determined that
the project will not have a significant impact on the environment and a negative
declaration has been prepared; and,
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all testimony and
arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said planning commission
did find the following facts to justify their actions, as described below:
1. The amendment will facilitate the prezoning of the property which
is required as a part of the annexation process.
2. The proposed annexation is necessary in order that proposed
developments on the property can be reviewed by one governmental
jurisdiction.
3. The proposed land use designation will be compatible with
adjacent proposed land uses.
4. The density resulting from the proposed land use designation will
be compatible with densities permitted in the adjacent areas.
5. The proposed land use designation is well suited to the subject
property.
6. The proposed land use designation will not be detrimental to the
public health, safety or welfare, or be materially injurious to
properties or improvements in the vicinity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of
Palm Desert, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings
of the commission in this case.
2. That it does hereby recommend to the City Council that GPA 02-83
be adopted for the property shown on Exhibit "A" and designating
said property low density residential (3-5 dwelling units per
acre) for reasons set out in the staff report and this resolution.
3. That the planning commission does hereby recommend to the City
Council, certification of a Negative Declaration of Environmental
Impact.

PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert
Planning Commission, held on this 4th day of October, 1983, by the following vote, to
wit:
