A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL
OF A CHANGE OF ZONE FROM PR-6, S.P. TO PC (3) S.P.
CASE NO. C/Z 84-10
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, did on
the 19th day of June, 1984, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider the request of
ERNEST W. HAHN for approval of a change of zone from PR-6, S.P. (planned residential,
6 units per acre, scenic preservation overlay) to PC (3) S.P. (regional commercial, scenic
preservation overlay) for property located 461 feet south of Fred Waring Drive and 250
feet east of El Paseo, more particularly described as:
Parcel 1, Tentative Parcel Map 19978
WHEREAS, said application has complied with the requirements of the "City of
Palm Desert Procedure for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act,
Resolution No. 80-89", in that the director of environmental services has determined that
the project has been previously assessed in connection with Case Nos. C/Z 08-79, DP 12-
79 and CUP 06-79 and no further documentation is deemed necessary.
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all testimony and
arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said planning commission
did find the following facts to justify their actions, as described below:
1. The land is necessary for parking in order to provide last major department
store.
2. The land is on the border line between residential and regional commercial
and could be considered in conformance with the general plan.
3. The use of the land for commercial purposes will be compatible with the
general plan provided appropriate screen walls and landscaping is provided.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of
Palm Desert, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings
of the commission in these cases;
2. That the Planning Commission does hereby recommend to the City Council
approval of a change of zone from PR-6, S.P. to PC (3) S.P. as shown on the
attached Exhibit "A".
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert
Planning Commission, held on this 19th day of June, 1984, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: DOWNS, ERWOOD, RICHARDS, WOOD, CRITES
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: NONE
ABSTAIN: NONE
