HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes No 1330PLANNING C M IISSION RESOLUTION M. 1330 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY COUNCIL DENIAL OF A ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT CREATING SECTION 25.58.313 PROVIDING FOR THE INCLUSION OF COMPACT PARKING SPACES IN REQUIRED OFF-STREET LOTS. CASE NO. ZOA 88-5 WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, did on the 3rd day of January, 1989, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider amendment of the zoning ordinance creating section 25.55.313 providing for the inclusion of compact parking spaces in required off-street lots; and WHEREAS, said application has complied with requirements of the "City of Palm Desert Procedures to Lhplement the California Environmental Quality Act, Resolution No. 80-89," in that the director of community development has determined the amendment to be a class 5 categorical exemption; and WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all testimony arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said planning comission did find the following facts and reasons to exist to recommend denial of a zoning ordinance text amendment: 1. The proposed standards will create traffic hazards and parking regulation enforcement problems when standard size vehicles park in compact spaces. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and findings of the commission in this case. 2. That Zoning Ordinance Amendment 88-5 is council for denial. correct and constitute the hereby recommended to city PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert Planning Commission, held on this 17th day of January, 1989, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: ABSTAIN: DOWNS, RICHARDS, WHITLOCK, ERWOOD NONE LADLOW NONE RICHARD ERWOOD, Chairman RAMON A.
