HomeMy WebLinkAboutRes No 1386PLANNIIC ONNQSSICN RESOLIJPICN ND. 1386 A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, DENYING A NEGATIVE DECLARATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT AND PRECISE PLAN FOR A 16,980 SQUARE FOOT O T+IERCIAL BUILDING LOCATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF HIGHWAY 111 MIDWAY BETWEEN PORTOLA AVENUE AND SAN LUIS REY. CASE NO. PP 89-12 WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, did on the 15th day of August, 1989, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider a request by GEORGE METSOVAS for approval of a negative declaration of environmental impact and precise plan for a 16,980 square foot commercial building located on the north side of Highway 111 midway between Portola Avenue and San Luis Rey; and WHEREAS, said application has complied with the requirements of the "City of Palm Desert Procedure for Implementation of the California Environmental Quality Act, Resolution No. 80-89," in that the director of community development has determined that the project will not have an adverse impact on the environment and a negative declaration has been prepared; and WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all testimony and arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said planning commission did find the following facts and reasons to exist to justify denial of said precise plan: 1. The exhibits illustrating the project's building elevations and site plan do not demonstrate an acceptable level of overall quality consistent with the city's goals and objectives for the C-1 zone. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, as follows: 1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings of the commission in this case. 2. That Precise Plan 89-12 is hereby denied. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert Planning Commission, held on this 3rd day of October, 1989, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: DOWNS, ERWIOOD, JON THAN, RICH RDS, AND WHITLOCK NOES: NONE ABSENT: NONE ABSTAIN: NONE CAROL WHITLOCK, Chairperson RAMON A.
