A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, RECOMMENDING TO THE CITY
COUNCIL APPROVAL OF A ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT TO
SECTION 25.18.030 TO ALLOW OFFICE PARKING LOTS AS A
CONDITIONAL USE WITHIN THE R-2 (7) ZONE WHEN ADJACENT TO
OFFICE PROFESSIONAL ZONES AND CONSISTENT WITH
RECC'44E RATIONS OF A SPECIFIC PLAN.
CASE NO. ZOA 90-2
WHEREAS, the planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert,
California, did on the 19th day of June, 1990, hold a duly noticed public
hearing to consider amendment of zoning ordinance amendment to Section
25.18.030 to allow office parking lots as a conditional use within the R-2
(7) zone when adjacent to office professional zones and consistent with
recammendations of a specific plan; and
WHEREAS, said amendment has complied with the requirements of the "City
of Palm Desert Procedure for Inulementation of the California Environmental
Quality Act, Resolution No. 80-89," in that the director of camiunity
development has determined the amendment to be a class 5 categorical
exemption; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all
testimony and arguments, if any, of all persons desiring to be heard, said
planning commission did find the following facts and reasons to exist to
recommend approval of a zoning ordinance text amendment:
1. The proposed amendment implements specific recommendations of the
Palma Village Specific Plan.
2. The proposed amendment will be consistent with the intent of the
zoning ordinance and will not threaten the public health, safety
or general welfare.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City
of Palm Desert, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the
findings of the commission in this case.
2. That it does hereby recommend approval of ZOA 90-2 as provided in
the attached exhibit labeled Exhibit "A".
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert
Planning Commission, held on this 19th day of June, 1990, by the following
vote, to wit:

EXHIBIT "A"
25.18.030 Conditional uses. The following uses may be permitted
subject to a conditional use permit:
A. Boardinghouses and roaminghouses;
B. Churches, convents, monasteries and other religious institutions;
C. Day nurseries and nursery schools;
D. Hospitals;
E. Neighborhood governmental offices, five thousand square feet
maximum building size;
F. Planned residential developments (cluster development);
G. Private schools and colleges, not including art, business, or
trade schools or colleges;
H. Private recreational facilities such as country clubs, tennis and
swim clubs, golf courses, with incidental, limited commercial uses
which are camronly associated and directly related to the primary
use;
I. Public educational institutions;
J. Public utility and public service facilities;
K. Professional offices, provided property to be developed is
abutting or across the street, or across an alley from
commercially zoned property; residential development standards to
be used to ensure compatibility. (Ord. 245, 1981: Ord. 94

L. Office parking lots when directly adjacent to the Office
Professional zone and consistent with recommendations of an
adopted specific plan.
