PLANNING COMMISSION RESOLUTION NO. 1657
A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, DENYING A GENERAL
PLAN AMENDMENT, CHANGE OF ZONE, AND PRECISE PLAN
TO PERMIT DEVELOPMENT OF AUTOMOBILE DEALERSHIPS ON
12.2 ACRES AT THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF HIGHWAY 111
AND EL PASEO.
CASE NOS. GPA 94-1, C/Z 94-1, PP 94-3
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert,
California, did on the 21st day of June, 1994, hold a duly noticed
public hearing to consider the request of GREGORY SPREEN for approval
of a Negative Declaration of Environmental Impact, General Plan
Amendment/Change of Zone, and Precise Plan to permit development of
automobile dealerships on 12.2 acres at the southwest corner of Highway
111 and El Paseo; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all
testimony and arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to
be heard, said planning commission did find the following facts and
reasons to exist to justify their actions:
1. The General Plan designation allowing auto dealership use is
incompatible with adjacent residential uses.
2. The change of zone and precise plan would therefore be
inconsistent with the General Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the
City of Palm Desert, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and
constitute the findings of the commission in this case.
2. That GPA 94-1, C/Z 94-1, and PP 94-3 is hereby denied.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm
Desert Planning Commission, held on this 5th day of July, 1994, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: JONATHAN, WHITLOCK, SPIEGEL
NOES: BEATY
ABSENT: NONE
ABSTAIN: NONE
