A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, DENYING A REQUEST BY SELECT
PROPERTIES INC. FOR AMENDMENT TO PP/CUP 98-19, A
MASTER PLAN OF DEVELOPMENT FOR A 20.52 ACRE SITE ON
THE NORTH SIDE OF COUNTRY CLUB DRIVE, 340 FEET WEST OF
WASHINGTON STREET.
CASE NO. PP/CUP 98-19 AMENDMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, did on the 28th day
of January 1999 approve a master plan of development for 20.52 acres on the north side of
Country Club Drive, 340 feet west of Washington Street; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, California, did on the
17th day of August, 1999, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider amendment to the
master plan of development; and
WHEREAS, Select Properties Inc. has requested amendment to the master plan to replace
a sit down restaurant with a car wash on Lot 1; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all testimony and
arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said Planning Commission did
find the following facts and reasons to exist to justify its actions, as described below:
1. That replacing a sit down restaurant with a car wash on a prominent corner of an
arterial street is not an appropriate land use and the car wash can be located
elsewhere in the master plan without creating a visual impact from a public street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of Palm
Desert, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings of the
Commission in this case.
2. That the request to amend the master plan to replace a sit down restaurant with
a car wash is hereby denied.
