A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN EXCEPTION
TO THE CITY'S SIGN ORDINANCE (SECTION 25.68.300) TO
ALLOW A WALL SIGN ABOVE THE 20 FOOT HEIGHT LIMIT FOR A
BUILDING AT 73-300 HIGHWAY 111.
CASE NO. SA 01-57
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Palm Desert, Califomia, did on the
21s` day of August, 2001, hold a duly noticed public hearing to consider the above mentioned;
and
WHEREAS, said application has complied with the requirements of the "City of Palm
Desert Procedure for Implementation of the Califomia Environmental Quality Act, Resolution
No. 00-24," in that the Director of Community Development has determined that the project is a
Class 1 exemption for purposes of CEQA and no further documentation is necessary; and
WHEREAS, at said public hearing, upon hearing and considering all testimony and
arguments, if any, of all interested persons desiring to be heard, said Planning Commission did
find the following facts and reasons to exist to justify granting of the height exception:
A. The sign is integrated into the architecture of the building.
On June 12, 2001 the Architectural Review Commission approved the sign and
found that the sign to be integrated into the architecture of the building.
B The sign will not be detrimental to the neighboring businesses or the community
in general.

The sign will not be detrimental to the surrounding neighbors since there are
other businesses on El Paseo, which have received a similar exception to the
Sign Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Planning Commission of the City of
Palm Desert, California, as follows:
1. That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute the findings of the
commission in this case.
2. That approval of SA 01-57 is hereby granted, subject to the attached conditions.

PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert
Planning Commission, held on this 21st day of August, 2001, by the following vote, to wit:

CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
CASE NO. SA 01-57
Department of Community Development:
1. The installation of the sign shall conform substantially with exhibits on file with the
Department of Community Development, as modified by the following conditions.
2. The sign shall consist of white individual channel letters with a maximum height of 30
inches.
3. The applicant shall secure the necessary permits from the City Building and Safety
Department.
