CALL TO ORDER Chair Dan convened the meeting at 6:02 p.m. II. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None IV. PRESENTATIONS A. Architectural Review and Planning Commissions — Eric Ceja, Principal Planner spoke to the committee about the Architectural Review and Planning Commissions and invited the members to be liaisons to the two commissions. MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE OCTOBER 10, 2016 V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A. MINUTES of the September 12, 2016, Palm Desert Youth Committee meeting Upon motion by Member C. Kim, second by Member Haile, and a 9-0-3 vote of the Youth Committee (AYES: Berenbaum, Chang, Cho, Dan, Fitzpatrick, Haile, C. Kim, L. Kim, Shaw and Wood; NOES: None; ABSTENTIONS: None; ABSENT: Cho, Johnson, Lauer), the September 12, 2016, Minutes were approved as presented. VI. NEW BUSINESS A. APPOINTMENT of Member to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide an update on Youth Committee activities at the October 27, 2016 City Council Meeting. Upon consensus by the Committee, Member Haile was appointed to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide an update on Youth Committee activities at the October 27, 2016 City Council Meeting. VII. OLD BUSINESS None VIII. CONTINUED BUSINESS None IX. REPORTS AND REMARKS A. COUNCIL MEMBERS B. STAFF Ms. Glickman reminded the Committee members to complete the attendance tracking sheets for their volunteer hours including hours for the Relay For Life and Y Be Fit events. C. COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1. Events The Committee discussed possible activities for 2016/2017 and will investigate the following: 2 MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE OCTOBER 10, 2016 d A series of senior Youth Committee tech days; Movie Night in the park or possibly on San Pablo Avenue; Block party/picnic in Civic Center Park with bands and a movie; One elementary school event; Open Mic event with the Coachella Valley Art Scene; and, Consider tech days instead of a fundraiser 2. Projects None 3. Sub-Committee Updates a. Anti-bullying Subcommittee No report. b. Legislative Review Committee No report. Member Haile will consider being the committee d liaison. c. Citizens' Sustainability Committee No report. Members Dan and Chang are the committee liaisons. d. Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation An upcoming event hosted by the Sister Cities Foundation to honor Mayor Spiegel is scheduled for October 19, 2016. Members Dan, C. Kim and L. Kim are the committee liaisons. e. Art in Public Places Commission No report. f. Public Safety Committee No report. r 3 MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE OCTOBER 10, 2016 g. Other Committee/Commission Reports Member Wood committee liaison for the Library Committee attended its meeting in September and presented a booklet of the library's youth activities. X.
