MINUTES of the September 11, 2017, Palm Desert Youth Committee meeting Upon a motion by Member Berenbaum, second by Member Fitzpatrick, and a 9-0-5 vote of the Youth Committee, (AYES: Berenbaum, Chang, Dan, Fitzpatrick, Johnson, L. Kim, Ross, Shaw and Wood; NOES: None; ABSTENTIONS: None; ABSENT: Cho, Frary, Haile, C. Kim, and Schwartz), the September 11, 2017, Minutes were approved as presented. VI. NEW BUSINESS Upon consensus by the Committee, Chair Chang was appointed to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide an update on Youth Committee activities at the October 26, 2017 City Council Meeting. VII. OLD BUSINESS None Vill. CONTINUED BUSINESS None IX. REPORTS AND REMARKS A. COUNCIL MEMBERS B. STAFF Attendance Sheets- Ms. Glickman handed out attendance tracking sheets and reminded the Committee members to record their hours throughout the year. Ms. Glickman reminded the Committee members that if they volunteerto assist an organization and are not able to attend to let contact the organization and let them know. Ms. Glickman proposed changing the meeting day from the first Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. to the second Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. due to numerous conflicts in the schedule. This item will be placed on the November agenda for a vote. The YMCA sent staff a note thanking the Youth Committee for their service at Y-Be Fit. 2 MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE October 2, 2017 C. COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1. Events a. Youth/Senior Technology Workshops—TBD Staff will email potential dates to the Committee members b. Anti-bullying Workshop— November, 2017— Staff will email potential dates to Committee members c. Holiday Party- Lincoln After School Program — December, 2017— Exact date to be determined at the November meeting. d. Youth Committee Presentation - Palm Desert Charter Middle School January 18, 2018 —4:00 p.m. e. Earth Day—Lincoln After School Program—April 19, 2018-3:15 p.m. 2. Projects a. No-Idle Zone for Cleaner Air For Schools — A sub-committee meeting will be scheduled before the next meeting. 3. Sub-Committee Updates a. Anti-bullying Subcommittee No Report b.
