CALL TO ORDER Committee Chair Patricia Dan convened the meeting at 6:01 p.m. II. MINUTES of the November 6, 2017, Palm Desert Youth Committee meeting Upon a motion by Member L. Kim, second by Member Johnson, and a 13-2 vote of the Youth Committee, (AYES: Ahmad, Berenbaum, Chang, Cho, Dan, Fitzpatrick, Haile, Johnson, C. Kim, L. Kim, Ross, Shaw and Wood;. NOES: None; ABSTENTIONS: None; ABSENT: Frary and Schwartz), the November 6, 2017, Minutes were approved as presented. VI. NEW BUSINESS None VII. OLD BUSINESS None VIII. CONTINUED BUSINESS None IX. REPORTS AND REMARKS A. COUNCIL MEMBERS Council Member Susan Marie Weber thanked the committee members for their service and presented gift cards to The Gardens on El Paseo. B. STAFF 2018 Youth Committee Goals— The Youth Committee would like to continue on its current path with no new goals. Staff has challenged the Committee members to bring forward any new goals they would be interested in pursuing. One member expressed an interest in starting a community gardening program. Staff informed the Committee that such a program already exists and will schedule the City's Landscape Specialist to speak to the group about it at its January 2018 meeting. Attendance Sheets— Ms. Glickman reminded the committee members to turn in their attendance sheets. 2 MINUTES PALM DESERT YOUTH COMMITTEE DECEMBER 11, 2017 C. COMMITTEE MEMBERS 1.. Events a. Youth Senior Technology Workshop — December 6, 2017 The workshop went well with numerous seniors in attendance. b. Anti-bullying Workshop— November 29, 2017 The workshop went very well and included a good deal of important information for the Committee members. Staff will schedule a meeting of the anti-bullying sub-committee to present at the after-school program at Carter Elementary School. c. Holiday Party— Lincoln After School Program — December 8, 2017— The party went very well this year. One Committee member commented that it went more smoothly because musical chairs was not played. d. Youth Committee Presentation - Palm Desert Charter Middle School January 18, 2018 —4:00 p.m. This event is being rescheduled to a date TBD. 2. Proiects a. No-Idle for Cleaner Air For Schools - No Report. 3. Sub-Committee Updates a. Anti-bullying Subcommittee Reported earlier in meeting. b. Legislative Review Committee No report. c.
