V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A. MINUTES of the Novembers, 2018, Palm Desert Youth Committee meeting
Continued to the January meeting due to lack of quorum.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Pledge of Allegiance and Presentation at the City Council Meeting on
January 10, 2019
Ms. Lawrence noted that due to lack of a quorum, members could not vote
on this item. However, Member Kulas volunteered to attend the meeting to
lead the Pledge of Allegiance and provide a presentation on Youth
Committee activities.

IX. REPORTS AND REMARKS
A. COUNCIL MEMBERS
None
B. STAFF
Ms. Lawrence noted the importance of members attending the monthly
meetings and asked that members contact her in advance if they cannot
attend because there is no point in holding the meeting without a quorum.
She reminded members that they are permitted up to two unexcused
absences per calendar year.
Ms. Lawrence thanked those members that assisted with the Celebrate the
Season event and asked that members contact her in the future if they
cannot attend an event they sign up for.
Ms. Lawrence noted that the City is collaborating with the Palm Desert
Sister Cities Foundation to bring the Sister Cities International Young Artists
and Author Showcase exhibit to the Palm Desert Library during the month

of January. She said that information on a reception that the Youth
Committee will be invited to would be available at the January meeting.
C. COMMITTEE MEMBERS
1. Events
a. Lincoln Elementary School Holiday Party ;
Ms. Lawrence circulated a sign-up sheet for the event scheduled
to take place on Tuesday, December 18, at 3:30 p.m. She noted
several members would be needed to facilitate the event consisting
of five different stations of crafts and games.
b. Youth Senior Technology Workshops
Ms. Lawrence noted that she intended to send around a sign-up
sheet for the events scheduled for January and April so that the
Joslyn Center could begin promoting them. However, due to lack
of members in attendance, she opted to wait until next month.
c. Anti-bullying Workshop in Schools

d. Youth Committee Presentation - Palm Desert Charter Middle
School

2. Projects and Sub-Committee Updates
a. No-Idle Zone for Cleaner Air For Schools
No update.
b. Anti-bullying Subcommittee
No update.
c. Palm Desert Sister Cities Foundation
Member Kulas provided an update to the Committee.

Upon consensus of the Committee, Vice Chair Fitzpatrick adjourned the meeting
