1. Any person wishing to discuss any item not otherwise on the agenda
may address the commission at this point by stepping to the lectern
and giving his/her name and address for the record. Remarks shall
be limited to a maximum of five minutes unless additional time is
authorized by the commission.

SUBJECT: Request for Committee Formation
At the April 5, 1988 planning commission meeting a precise plan for 612
apartments on Hovley Lane was reviewed during public hearing which required a
general plan amendment (GPA 87-6) and zone change (C/Z 87-13). The proposed
project also included a development agreement between the City of Palm Desert
and Cook Hovley Street Associates involving the dedication of 55 acres of land
to the city.
Upon taking testimony, the planning commission concluded to request city
council to form a committee consisting of two councilpersons, two planning
commissioners, and two parks and recreation commissioners in order to address
the issues of:
1. The property exchange.
2. The project design.
3. Recreation issues as they relate to surrounding properties.
Staff recommends to establish the committee and if council concurs we will so
inform the planning commission at their May 3 meeting and the parks and
recreation commission at their next meeting.
