Your recommendations are good ones which have a great deal of merit and warrant further review. Therefore, I have taken the liberty of forwarding your correspondence to my colleagues on the City Council as well as Ray Diaz, Phil Drell and the members of the Palm Desert Parks & Recreation Commission for their evaluation and action. As the suggestions you made are examined and/or implemented, the City will stay in contact to keep you updated on the status of the Park. Once again, Madelin, thank you for taking the time to write. The concerns of our constituents are of interest to all the members of the City Council. Sincerely, RI S. Specifically, the construction of a shade structure over the playground and the addition of benches and tables either in or next to the sand lot. Many mothers and children frequent the park on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the only table and chairs available are situated too far from the playground for us to safely monitor our toddlers and young children, leaving us no choice but to sit on the cement or directly in the sand. Additionally, when the weather warms up, the park is virtually unuseable to us because there is no shade. It would also be nice to have a few barbecues similar to the ones at Civic Center Park. Families in our neighborhood have discussed getting together and get better acquainted over picnics at Ironwood. Electrical outlets by the tables and barbecues would enable us to plug in lanterns and picnic into the early evenings. Please consider these modest requests. Ironwood is a lovely park which is seldom used due to the conditions listed above. It would be nice to see the City and its residents get the most benefit for their -dollar by making this park "user" friendly. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Sincerely, , ",\ Gk \ 40 .
