ROLL CALL PRESENT: Councilman Chuck Aston, Councilwoman Jean Beason; Councilman James McPherson; and Mayor Henry Clark ABSENT: Councilman Noel Brush Others Present: City Manager - E. R. Asmus UNFINISHED BLSINESS A. ORDINANCE NO. 19 - AN ORDINANCE OF TEE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, ANNEXING CERTAIN CONTIGUOUS TERRITORY TO SAID CITY UNDER TEE PROVISIONS OF GOVER''MENT CODE OF THE STATF. OF CALIFORNIA, WHICH PROCEEDINGS ARE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS PALM DESERT NO. 1 - SUN KING (LAFCO NO 74-6-4) Second reading Councilman Aston moved, Councilman McPherson seconded that further reading be waived and that Ordinance No. 19 be adopted. Motion carried by the following vote: AYES: Aston, Benson, McPherson, Clark ABSENT: Brush Councilman Brush entered the meeting at 6:15 P.M. NEW BUSINESS A. Authorization to employ A-1 Surveying Company, Inc. City Manager explained the need and his plan for expediting planning matters on an interim basis and recommended that A-1 Surveying Company, Inc. of. Palm Desert be employed on an as -need basis to handle planning matters not otherwise processed by the County of Riverside. He explained the cost will. be $20 per hour including necessary secretarial time in typing staff reports. Councilman Aston moved, seconded by Councilman McPherson to accept the recommendation. Motion carried unanimously. R;"::ARKS •ten _:ayo= Clark explained to the City Council, Rancho: desire to meet with representatives of Palm Desert c- _-___-_.a1 basis to discuss each city's sphere of -a-s. After discussion it was determined that du - - ==.e lack of specific information and facts re garding this __-::'s sphere, little could he accomplished by such a pectin; at this time. Councilman Aston moved, Councilman Brush seconded that the meeting should not be held until such time as Palm Desert had developed information and facts that could be discussed. Motion carried unanimously. ADJOURNMENT Councilman McPherson moved, seconded by Councilman Aston at 6:30 P.M. to adjourn to Executive Session for the purpose of considering candidates for the position of City Manager. Mayor Clark reconvened the adjourned regular meeting, at 9:55 P.M. It was moved by Councilman Aston, seconded by Councilman Brush that the meeting he adjourned to Thursday February 7, 1974 at 7:00 P.M. at the Palm Dese.rt Community Church.
