II. CALL TO ORDER Mayor Puluqi convened the Adjourned Meeting of the City Council at 9:15 a.m. ROLL CALL Present: Excused Absence Councilman Phyllis Jackson Councilman Richard S. Kelly Mayor Pro-Tem Walter H. Snyder Mayor Romeo S. Puluqi Also Present: Councilman S. Roy Wilson Carlos L. Ortega, Acting City Manager Sheila R. Gilligan, City Clerk Stan Sawa, Acting Director of Environmental Services Barry D. McClellan, Director of Public Works Charles Martin, Civic Center Architect III. OLD BUSINESS A. CIVIC CENTER 1. REPLACEMENT OF GLASS DOORS Mr. Martin reported that Snedaker Construction Co., contractor for the Civic Center, had bid $9,892 for 4 sets of doors without hardware. Another bid had been received from Fontana Glass Company in the amount of $8,433 for 5 sets of doors including hardware. He also noted that the City had received a $6,000 credit for taking the glass out of the walkways between buildings. He recommended approval to award the contract to the low bidder. Upon motion by Kelly, second by Jackson, and unanimous vote of the Councilmen present, Fontana Glass was awarded the contract for 5 sets of glass doors with hardware in the amount of $8,433. 2. INTERIOR FURNISHINGS FOR CIVIC CENTER Mr. Martin reported there were certain items of furniture proposed that were not sole source items although they were listed as such. These included the planter boxes in the lobby areas, the lecturn in the Chambers, and the table for the Council Conference Room. He recommended Mr. DeChristopher be allowed to go ahead with these items. After considerable Council discussion, Mr. Martin was asked to present this with more information at the next meeting. VOTE COUNTING MACHINE Mr. Martin stated the Civic Center Committee had discussed the installation of this machine and felt it should be included in the initial construction and not added later. Council asked Mr. Martin to bring this item back with cost estimates at a future meeting. 4. LANDSCAPING Mr. Martin reported that the drawings are back to the contractor with all necessary changes made. Retaining walls were in the process of being built. X. ADJOURNMENT Upon motion by Jackson, second by Kelly, and unanimous vote of the Councilmen present, Mayor Mayor Puluqi adjourned the meeting at 9:30 a.m. to Closed Session for the purpose of discussing a personnel item.
