CALL TO ORDER Mayor/Chairman Kelly convened the meeting at 11 a.m. with direction to the City Clerk to make notes on only those items on which Council reached consensus. II. Folkers, Director of Public Works Frank A. Allen, Director of Code Compliance Patrick Conlon, Director of Building 8 Safety III. NEW BUSINESS 1. DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED 1986/87 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET By consensus, the following items were deleted from the proposed budget: Permanent Position of Contract Admin. Permanent Position of Admin. Parks 8 Rec. Two Permanent Positions of Maint. Workers budgeted for 1/2 yr. and to be reconsidered at mid year 1986/87. Two Permanent Positions of Street Maintenance Workers. One Permanent Position of Clerk Typist in Planning Dept. - 1/2 Clerk Typist moved from Building 8 Safety to Public Works. 3,000,000 24,420 46,864 23,703 By consensus, the following items were added to the proposed budget: Additional operating monies for Senior Ctr. Contractual Contract Admin. Monies from Drainage Fund reallocated: Land Acquisition/Recreational purposes $1,000,000. Civic Center Site Improvements - $1,000,000 Park Development - $300,000 7,000 sq. ft. Community Recreation Bldg. - $700,000 Discussion of auto allowances was continued. $10,000 30,000 3,000,000 Council asked for wording clarification on the $200,000 for Art in Public Places Program so that it is known that interest only on this money will be used for the program and that the City Council has the ability to withdraw the money at any time it needs It for other purposes. Council directed staff to, in lieu of a new administrative aide position, investigate better utilizing the Police Department and Crime Prevention Officer Brent Conley for the Police Advisory Committee and to contact Chief Bruce Cowie to determine how we could more effectively involve our Fire Department to assist in the City's Earthquake Preparedness Program. IV. ADJOURNMENT Upon motion by Wilson, second by Snyder, and unanimous vote of the City Council present, Mayor Kelly adjourned the joint meeting to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 1986, at 5:22 p.m. ATTEST: • RCHARD S.
