B. Seating and Comments from Newly Elected Councilmembers.
Mayor Pro-TemporeNice Chair Benson expressed sincere appreciation for
the trust Palm Desert residents had placed in her and for what she felt the
City had done for her over the last 20 years. She attributed the City's
success to the way in which the City Council and City staff all worked
together for the good of Palm Desert and looked forward to the next four
years. She introduced her grandson, Rob, and his wife, Amy, of Goodyear,
Arizona, present this morning, as were her friends Doris and Henry.
Councilman/Member Ferguson also expressed his appreciation to the
residents, his colleagues on the Council, his law partner and office manager,
in the audience this morning, and especially to his family, also present, for
their indulgence of the time he spent on City activities. He agreed with Mayor
Pro-TemporeNice Chair Benson in that the City's success was due in no
small part to the work of his fellow Councilmembers and ultimately City staff
for carrying out the City Council's decisions. He was pleased that the "team"
was being kept together to continue to do what it felt best for Palm Desert
and to further its accomplishments.
