CALL TO ORDER President Spiegel convened the meeting at 4:01 p.m. H. ROLL CALL Present: Commissioner Jean M. Benson Vice President Buford A. Crites Commissioner Jim Ferguson Commissioner Richard S. CONSENT CALENDAR A. MINUTES of the Housing Authority Meeting of February 25, 1999. Rec: Approve as presented. MINUTES PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING MARCH 25, 1999 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * B. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL of Out -Of -State Travel for Housing Commissioners and Staff to Attend the Commissioners Fundamentals Seminar in Phoenix, Arizona. Rec: By Minute Motion, approval travel to Phoenix, Arizona, for the following Housing Commissioners and staff: Carrie McLeod, Philip Sladick, Lawrence Saindon, Leo Sullivan, Charlene Sumpter, and Carlos Ortega, to participate in the Commissioners Fundamentals Seminar on April 23-24, 1999, and appropriate such funds from Housing Unobligated Funds. Upon motion by Commissioner Benson, second by Vice President Crites, and unanimous vote of the Housing Authority Board, the Consent Calendar was approved as presented. IV. CONSENT ITEMS HELD OVER None. V. RESOLUTIONS None. VI. NEW BUSINESS None. VII. CONTINUED BUSINESS None. VIII. OLD BUSINESS A. REQUEST FOR AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR REPAINTING OF HOUSING AUTHORITY PROPERTIES KNOWN AS ONE QUAIL PLACE, TAOS PALMS, DESERT POINTE, AND NEIGHBORS GARDENS. Commissioner Kelly moved to, by Minute Motion: 1) Award Contract No. HA15430 to Alamo Painting, Diamond Bar, California, in the amount of $230,010 for the repainting of the Housing Authority properties known as Desert Pointe ($37,400) and One Quail Place ($192,610) plus a 15% contingency in the amount of $34,501.50 for a total amount of $264,511.50. 2) Award Contract No. 7-IA15710 to Southwest Coatings, Inc., San Pedro, California, in the amount of $17,500 for the repainting of the Housing Authority property known as Neighbors Gardens plus a 15 % contingency in the amount of $2,625 for a total amount of $20,125. 3) Award Contract No. HA15720 to Ignacio Sanchez, Inc., Palm Desert, California, in the amount of $14,588 for the repainting of Housing Authority property known as Taos Palms plus a 15% contingency in the amount of $2,188.20 for a total amount of 2 MINUTES PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING MARCH 25, 1999 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * $16,776.20. 4) Authorize the appropriation of funds for the aforementioned contracts from the Agency's Tax Allocation (Housing Set -Aside) Revenue Bonds, Series 1998 funds ($1.8 million Capital Improvement Funds). Motion was seconded by Commissioner Ferguson and carried by unanimous vote. B. REQUEST FOR AWARD OF CONTRACT FOR THE INSTALLATION OF CARPORTS AT HOUSING AUTHORITY PROPERTY KNOWN AS LAS SERENAS APARTMENTS. Vice President Crites moved to, by Minute Motion, award Contract No. HA15450 to James E. Simon Company, Indio, California, in the amount of $59,813 plus a 15% contingency in the amount of $8,971.95 for the installation of carports at Housing Authority Property known as Las Serenas Apartments and appropriate such funds from the Agency's Tax Allocation (Housing Set -Aside) Revenue Bonds, Series 1998 funds ($1.8 million Capital Improvement Funds). Motion was seconded by Commissioner Ferguson and carried by unanimous vote. In response to Commissioner Benson's inquiry, Ms. Charlene Sumpter, Senior Rehabilitation Construction Specialist, stated all other Housing Authority property had carports. IX.
