CALL TO ORDER Chairman Spiegel convened the meeting at 3:05 p.m. II. ROLL CALL Present: Member Jean M. Benson Vice Chairman Buford A. Crites Member Jim Ferguson Member Richard S. CONSENT CALENDAR A. MINUTES of the Housing Authority Meeting of July 8, 2004. Rec: Approve as presented. MINUTES PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING SEPTEMBER 9, 2004 B. REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION to Award Contract for the Mural Work Within the Desert Pointe Apartments Hallway/Staircase Project (Contract No. HA21380A). Rec: By Minute Motion: 1) Authorize award of the subject contract to Mike Guthrie, Rancho Mirage, California, in the amount of $24,800 for the mural paintings to run the length of each hallway and staircase walls within the Housing Authority property known as Desert Pointe Apartments; 2) authorize the Director of Finance to appropriate $24,800 to Account No. 871-8630-466-4001 for this purpose; 3) authorize the Chairman to execute said contract. C. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL of Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. HA21380 — Hallway/Staircase Renovation at Desert Pointe Apartments. Rec: By Minute Motion: 1) Approve Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $39,054 to the subject contract with Zeus Construction, Inc., Palm Desert, California, to upgrade the flooring treatment throughout the project and authorize the Chairman to execute same; 2) authorize the Director of Finance to transfer $11,895 from contingency to base for the project; 3) authorize the Director of Finance to appropriate $27,159 to Account No. 871-8630-466-4001 for same. Upon motion by Crites, second by Kelly, the Consent Calendar was approved as presented by a 5-0 vote. IV. CONSENT ITEMS HELD OVER None V. RESOLUTIONS None VI. NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION TO ENTER INTO CONTRACT FOR PHASE II ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN SERVICES AND DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECT SCOPE FOR REHABILITATION OF THE LAGUNA PALMS HOUSING DEVELOPMENT (CONTRACT NO. HA23010A). Mr. Ortega noted the staff report and recommendation in the packets. 2 MINUTES PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING SEPTEMBER 9, 2004 Vice Chairman Crites moved to, by Minute Motion: 1) Approve an agreement with Prest Vuksic Architects, Palm Desert, California, in an amount not to exceed $233,000 plus $10,000 for reimbursable costs for Phase II of the rehabilitation of the Laguna Palms Housing Development; 2) authorize the Chairman to execute said contract — funds are available in Account No. 871-8610-466-4001. Chairman Spiegel requested a tour of the Housing Authority Properties once the flooring and hallway/staircase projects are completed at the Desert Pointe Apartments, sometime after the first of November.
