On a motion by Kroonen, second by Finerty, and 5-0 vote of the Authority Board,
Chairman Spiegel adjourned the meeting to Closed Session at 3:01 p.m. He reconvened
the meeting at 4:00 p.m.

Upon a motion by Finerty, second by Benson, and 5-0 vote of the Authority Board,
the Consent Calendar was approved as presented.

VIII. NEW BUSINESS
A. REQUEST FOR AWARD OF CONTRACT TO MARIPOSA LANDSCAPES,
INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $293,076 FOR ANNUAL LANDSCAPE
MAINTENANCE SERVICES AT 13 HOUSING AUTHORITY PROPERTIES
FOR A 24-MONTH TERM (CONTRACT NO. HA31930).
Management Analyst Jessica Gonzales stated staff requested sealed bids
for the annual landscape maintenance services for thirteen of the Housing
Authority properties and received two bids. Staff recommended the award
of contract to the lowest responsible bidder Mariposa Landscapes, Inc.
Their main office is located in Irwindale, California, but they also maintain a
local operation's office in Cathedral City.
Vice Chairman Kroonen moved to, by Minute Motion: 1) Authorize award of the
subject contract to Mariposa Landscapes, Inc., Irwindale, California, in the amount of
$293,076 annually plus 10% for extra work not to exceed $29,208 annually for Landscape
Maintenance Services for 13 Housing Authority Properties for a 24-month term;
2) authorize the Executive Director to finalize and the Chairman to execute the contract
and any documents necessary to facilitate the contract award and implementation — funds
are available in the respective Contract Services Account in the 2012-2013 Housing
Authority Operating Budget. Motion was seconded by Finerty and carried by a 5-0 vote.
B. REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF FIRST AMENDMENT TO LEASE
AGREEMENT BETWEEN DESERT SANDS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
AND THE PALM DESERT HOUSING AUTHORITY FOR HEAD START
PROGRAM AT ONE QUAIL PLACE (CONTRACT NO. HA26631).
Member Finerty moved to, by Minute Motion: 1) Approve First Amendment to the
subject Lease Agreement, substantially as to form, by and between Desert Sands Unified
School District and the Palm Desert Housing Authority for the continuance and
implementation of a Head Start Program at One Quail Place; 2) authorize the Executive
Director to finalize the Lease Agreement after review by Desert Sands Unified School
District; 3) authorize the Chairman to execute such Amendment to the Lease Agreement
and necessary documents. Motion was seconded by Kroonen and carried by a 5-0 vote.
