CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Mullins called the Meeting of the Palm Desert Redevelopment Agency
-o order at 10:50 p.m. in the Multi -Purpose Room of George Washington School.

of October 11, 1979.

Rec: Approve as presented.
C. LETTER FROM MS. SUSAN BOSS Relative to the Frontage Road.and Executive
Director's Response.

Member McPherson moved and Member Wilson seconded to approve the Consent
:alendar as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
J. RESOLUTIONS
A. RESOLUTION NO. 103 - A RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE
CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, PERTAINING TO THE AGENCY'S ROLE IN
THE APPLICATION FOR URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACTION GRANT FUNDS BY THE COUNTY
OF RIVERSIDE TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR OFF -SITE IMPROVEMENTS AND OTHER
ACTIVITIES ESSENTIAL TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING
PROJECT AND REGIONAL COMMERCIAL CENTER IN THE CITY OF PALM DESERT.
Mr. Bouman explained to the Agency that of the requested UDAG Grant
in the amount of $6,689,000, the sum of $2,855,000 is intended to
be used for constructing streets and building and equipping a
fire station. This resolution on the part of the Redevelopment
Agency agrees to receive the aforementioned $2,855,000, to spend
it for the described purposes, and to return said amount to either
the City of Palm Desert or the County of Riverside where it is
to be used exclusively for subsidizing and promoting additional
units of low and middle income housing in the City of Palm Desert.
The money is not a loan as such because it is actually a portion
of the total grant sum and does not have to be repaid to the

Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. Instead,
it should be thought of as an investment by the Redevelopment
Agency towards solving the housing needs of the City, particularly
as they relate to needs generated by the Hahn Shopping Center.
Member Wilson moved and Member McPherson seconded to waive further reading
and adopt Resolution No. 103. Motion carried unanimously
