Member Puluqi questioned the economic feasibility of including the slip
ramp east of San Carlos when there was a committee reviewing that

MR. RALPH WOOD addressed the Agency stating he had been closely
involved in this committee work and that they recommended the
inclusion of this slip ramp. He strongly encouraged the Agency to move
ahead with the project and award the bid.
Mr. Hardy noted that the plans had been approved by Caltrans after a
very lengthy and time-consuming process. Deletion of the ramp would
mean new approvals from Caltrans and more time delay. Member
Puluqi concurred it would be easier to take it out later than to delay
the project with more approvals from the State.
Member Newbrander stated she was surprised Mr. Wood would think the
Agency Board would hold the project up. She said it was a big beginning
and the first step in a large project that has been a long time in the
making.
Member McPherson moved to award Contract No. 1048 to Ionic Construction,
low bidder. Member Puluqi seconded the motion; carried unanimously.
B. REQUEST FOR AWARD OF BID FOR DEMOLITION OF THE EXXON
STATION AND THE MONTEREY APARTMENTS.
Mr. Ortega reported that 7 bids had been received with Thomas House
Movers being the apparent low bidder. However, they were proposing
to pay the Agency $400 for removal of the apartments rather than
charging to demolish them. Since this has been a problem in the past,
staff recommended that the Agency Board authorize the Executive
Director to negotiate a contract with the firm to ensure the City's
protection from any possible problems and further costs with this
project.
Member McPherson moved to reject all bids and authorize the Executive
Director to negotiate a contract with Thomas House Movers for clearing the Exxon
Station and Monterey Apartment sites. Member Newbrander seconded the motion; carried
unanimously.
