HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 75-015RESOLUTION NO. 75-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA. REGARDING THE HI,jAY III OVERCROSSING WHEREAS, the Highway Commission several years ago adopted the right of way alignment for the connection of Highway 111 to Interstate 10 in the Coachella Valley in the County of Riverside; and WHEREAS, this right of way was adopted to provide a direct connection between State Highway 111 and Interstate 10; and WHEREAS, the existing connection is by an inaccessible, obscure route over a hazardous railroad crossing adjacent to a highly congested intersection of two State routes and a local major arterial; and WHEREAS, Highway 111 is the lifeline of and the only State Highway and the major transportation connection between and through the cove communities of the Coachella Valley and the Cities of Indian Wells, Palm Desert and Rancho Hirage, and the only State Highway connecting them with the City of Indio and Palm Springs; NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Palm Desert does hereby request that the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California carefully review the Department of Transportation application for Grade Separation Funds for the construction of a grade separation on Highway 111 over Highway 86 and the Southern Pacific Railroad to make the connection to Interstate 10, and that said project be funded in the 1975-76 year.
