A RESOLUTION OF TIIE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PALhi DESERT, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN AP.7ENDRIEn'T
TO RESOLUTION NO. 76-1 BY INCOI�PORATING �DDITIOfiAL
LANDSC�PING STAND/1RDS.

�1'H�F�EAS, Resolution No.76-1 which was passed, approved and adopted
by the City Council on the 8th day of January, 1976 established Design
Evaluation Criteria a.nd Submittal Requirements for Projects in the City
of Palm Desert; and,
�I'HEF�EAS, Resolution No.76-1 approved Development Standards which
included �eneral Landscaping Standards; and,
�5'�IEREAS, the Desi�n Review Board and the Planning Commission
ha��e determined that said general landscaping standards are not suf-
ficiently definite and fail to provide applicants with sufficient
guidelines in developing their landscaping proposals; and,
�ti'HEREAS, the Design Review Board and the Planning Commission
ha�•e determined that those additional landscaping standards indicated
on attached Exhibit 'A' would pro��ide applicants with direction as to
achieving an acceptable landscaping plan.
N0�1', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Palm Desert as follows:
l. That the City Council does hereUy concur with the deter-
minations of the Design Review Board and Planning Commission regarding
the need fvr more definitive landscaping standards;
2. That it does hereby approve an amendment to Resolution No.
76-1 to incorporate the additional landscaping standards as indicated
on attached Exhibit 'A'.
PASSED, APPRO�'ED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm
Desert City Council, held this 25th day of May , 1978,
by the following vote, to wit:

PROPOSED ADDITIOPlAL L�PJDSCAPE STAfdDARDS

I. To be an expansion of Section G of the adopted Development Standards
4. Single-Family Residence
a. Prior to occupancy, all front and street side yards shall be
landscaped as approved through the DRa process, including a
completely automated sprinkler and/or drip irrigation system
such as rain bird system or equivalerat
5. Street Trees
a. Al1 required street trees shall be a minimum of 24" box in size
at time of installation.
b. Care should be given to the tree selection in terms of:
- conformance to City adopted trees for certain streets
- reduction of long-term maintenance problems

- compatibility to the project and surrounding area.
6. Parking Areas
To provide for effective landscaping in parking areas, the following
standards shall be met:
a. On the perimeter, a minimum of 75� of the trees shall be 24" box
or larger in size at time of installation. The remainder shall be
a minimum of fifteen gallon in size at the time of installation.
b. On the interior, a minimum of 60% of the trees shall be 24" box or
larger in size at time of installation. The remainder shall be a
minimum of fifteen gallon in size at time of installation.
