HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 80-086RESOLUTION N0. 80-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION N0. 79-70, RESOLUTION N0. 80-17, RESOLUTION N0. 80-43, AND THUS ESTABLISHING A REVISED TABLE OF SALARY RANGES FOR CLASS- IFICATIONS AND POSITIONS, A SALARY SCHEDULE, POSITIONS EXEMP7 FROM OVERTIME PROVISIONS, MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT, AUTO ALLOWANCES, SERVICE CLUB REIMBURSEMENT, AND PRO- VISIONS FOR LONGEVITY ADVANCEMENTS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert is authorized and directed under the provisions of Ordinance No. 176, establishing Personnel System Rules and Regulations for the City of Palm Desert, to establish a Table of Salary Ranges for Classifications and Positions, Salary Schedule, to name ceriain positions which are exempt from overtime provisions, to set a mileage reimbursement rate, to name certain positions which are authorized for monthly auto allowances, and to set the number of service club memberships allowed for reimbursement for the cost of initiation fees, annual dues, dues related costs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California that Resolution No. 79-70, Resolution No. 80-17, and Resolu- tion No. 80-43 are rescinded, and thus establishing a revised Table of Salary Ranges for Classifications and Positions, a Salary Schedule, attached hereto as Exhibit A, Positions Exempt from Overtime Provisions, Mileage Reimbursement, Auto Allowances, Service Club Reimbursement, and Provisions for Longevity Advancements, effective July l, 1980: SECTION 1. TABLE OF SALARY RANGES FOR CLASSIFICATIONS & POSITIONS The following classifications and positions and salary ranges, together with the salary schedules are utilized and included in the 1980-81 budget for the City of Pa1m Desert, California, and are hereby adopted and effective July l, 1980. EXEMPT PERSONNEL, GROUP A The following positions requiring attendance at numerous extra- hour meetings and conferences are hereby designated Exempt Personnel, Group A, and are exempt from overtime provisions as set forth in Ordinance No. 176: City Manager Director/Environmental Services Director/Public Works Assistant City Manager Principal Planner Associate Planner SECTION 3. EXEMPT PERSONNEL, GROUP 6 The following positions, requiring aitendance at occasional extra- hour meetings and conferences, are hereby designated Exempt Personnel, Group B, and are exempt from overtime provisions as set forth in Ordinance No. 176: City Clerk Director/Building & Safety Director/Finance & City Treasurer Principal Building Inspector Code Supervisor Administrative Assistant Assistant Planner SECTION 4. MILEAGE REIMBURSEMENT The mileage reimbursement rate to emp]oyees required to use their car on City business shall be 31¢ per mile. In the case of employees who receive a monthly auto allowance, said mileage reimbursement shall be made only for that portion of trips which extend beyond a 25 mile radius of the Palm Desert City Hall. SECTION 5. LONGEVITY ACHIEVEMENT An employee upon attaining the E(top) step of his salary range may, upon approval of the City Manager, receive longevity merit advancements beyond the E(top) step of his respective salary range in accordance with the following schedule of minimum length of continuous service. (One Range) 22% salary increase - after 2 yrs. satisfactory service in Step E (One Range) 22% salary increase - after 4 yrs. satisfactory service in Step E (One Range) 2z% salary increase - after 6 yrs. satisfactory service in Step E (One Range) 22� salary increase - after 3 yrs. satisfactory service in Step E All longevity merit advancements shall be granted only as a result of a written evaluation of continued meritorious and efficient service and continued improvement by the employee in the effective performance of the duties of the position held.
