A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING SENA1'E BILL NO. 215 REGARDING
TRANSPOR'fA"I'ION FINANCING
WHEREAS, there is a recognized transportation funding crises in the State of
California; and
WHEREAS, road maintenance costs have accelerated disproportionately to the
growth in revenue due to inflation, thereby reducing maintenance levels resulting in
further deterioration of the street and highway system; and
WHEREAS, the Legislature, in response to the problem, has enacted Senate Bill No.
215 which provides in part that the Counties may forward a resolution to the Governor
indicating support for the legislation.
NOVN, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, that it finds and declares that additional revenues derived pursuant to
Sections 7351 and 8b51 of the Revenue and Taxation Code as proposed to be amended by
Senate Bill No. 215 of the 1981-82 Regular Session of the Legislature are needed to
maintain, improve, and construct State highways and local streets and roads and related
transQortation facilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Road Commissioner shall forward a certified
copy hereof to the Governor of the State of California.
PASSED, APROVED, and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, at an Adjourned Meeting held on the Sth day of November, 1981, by
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Newbrander, Puluqi, Snyder dc Wilson
NOES: None
ABSENT: McPherson
ABSTAIN: None
