A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNL�, SUPPORTING THE REQUEST OF EISENHOWER MEDICAL CENTER
TO THE STATE OF CALIFORMA FOR AN ADDITIONAL 100 GENERAL ACUTE CARE BEDS
WHEREAS, Eisenhower Medical Center, a voluntary non-profit hospital, opened on
November 27, 1971, dedicated to providing outstanding health care services consister►t
with the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, Eisenhower Medica! Center (EMC) is presently licensed for 185 general
acute care beds in addition to the required basic, special, and supplemental services; and
WHEREAS, EMC's campus includes three professiona! buildings, the Annenberg
Center for Health Sciences, and a heliport; and
WHEREAS, EMC was granted a Certificate of Need on 3une 17, 1981, to construct
a 60-bed Chemical Dependency Recovery Hospital on its campus; an�
WHEREAS, EMC ran a census of 909i6 during the calendar year 1980-81.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE I'T RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, does hereby urge the State of California, Office of Statewide Health
Planning and Development, to approve the request of Eisenhower Medical Center for an
additional 100 general acute care beds so that they may continue to meet the growing
demand of their community.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, at its Adjourned Meeting held on the 17th day of December , 1981, by the
following vote, to wit: .
AYES: McPherson, Newbrander, Puluqi, Snyder & Wilson
NOES: None .
ABSENT: None
