A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CI'TY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNIA, ENDORSING AND SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A SEPARATE
SCNOOL DLSTRICT FOR THE PALM DESERT - INDIAN WELLS AREA.

WHEREAS, it has long been an objective of the City of Palm Desert to improve and
enhance the opportunities for the highest possible level of education for our children and
young adults; and
WHEREAS, the Desert Sands Unified School District has been responsible for said
function for many years, and as such, has administered the educational function in the
best possible manner, considering the complexities of wide geographical distribution and
limited funding resources; and �
WHEREA5, a plan is now being implemented which would create a new school
disirict in the Palm Desert - Indian Wells Area; and
WHEREAS, such a new district appears to offer the best possible opportunity for
better educational potential, not just for Palm Desert and Indian Wells children, but also
for those who remain in the Desert Sands Unified School District.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, hereby supports and endorses the concept of a separate school district
for the Palm Desert - Indian Wells area, and hereby pledges its assistance to those
citizens who have undertaken the arduous task of carrying such project to completion.

t Desert, California, at its Regular Meeting held on this 23rd day of September, 1982, by
the following vote, to wit:
