A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNIA, STATING ITS INTENTION TO CLOSE SONORA DRIVE TO
TRAFFIC AT ��ONTEREY AVENUE.
CASE N0. SC-2
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, has been
requested by interested residents to close Sonora Drive to traffic at Monterey Avenue;
and
' WHEREAS, the City Council ordered that a duly noticed public hearing be
held on May 26, 1983, to receive public comment on closure of said street; and
� WHEREAS, the City Council determined that it was proper to close Sonora
Drive at f�onterey Avenue; and
WHEREAS, upon hearing and receiving all testimony and arguments, if any,
of all persons desiring to be heard, the City Council did find the following facts
and reasons to exist to close said street:
(1) Implementation of said street closure will help create a
neighborhood identity and reduce traffic noise and safety
hazards.
(2) Implementation of said street closure complies with the
goals, objectives, and policies of the City's adopted
General Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, as follows:
(1) That the above recitations are true and correct and constitute
the findings of the Council in this case.
_� (2) That it does hereby state its intentions to close said street
described in Exhib�� "A", attached hereto, for the reasons set
forth in this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert
City Council, held on this 2 6th day of M�_, 1983, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Jackson, Kelly, PuluQi, Snyder & Wilson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
