A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS IN-
TENT TO ANNEX ADDITIONAL TERRITORY TO LANDSCAPING AND LIGHT-
ING DISTRICT N0. 2(CANYON COVE) PURSUANT TO THE LANDSCAPING
AND LIGHTING ACT OF 1972.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 22587 of the Streets and Highways Code, a
report by the City Engineer of the City of Palm Desert has been filed and reviewed
by said City Council, and it is the intent of the Council to proceed with the
annexation of additional territory to said district.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California,
does hereby resolve as follows:
(1) That said City Council hereby declares its intent to order the
annexation of additional territory to�the existing assessment
district designated as Landscaping and Lighting District No. 2,
and to levy and collect assessments on this annexed territory
pursuant to Part 2 of Division 15 of the Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California.
(2) That improvements to be installed and maintained within the
district are as follows:
(a) Street lighting for streets within Tract 11636-1.
(b) Landscaping of drainage areas and greenbelt areas along
Haystack Road east of Highway 74 adjacent to Tracts 11636-1,
11636-2, 11636-3, 11636-4 and 11636-5. Landscaping consists
of shade trees, grass areas and automatic sprinkler systems
and other landscaping required pursuant to the development
plan approved by the City of Palm Desert.
(3) That said proposed annexed territory shall be encompassed within
an area described as follows:
-� Within an area covered by Tract Nos. 11636-2, 11636-3, 11636-4
and 11636-5, shown by Map Book 112, Pages 70-74 and Map Book 114,
Pages 21-26 of the Maps and Records of Riverside County, California.
That the distinctive designation for the district shall be Land-
scaping and Lighting District No. 2(Lewis Homes' Canyon Cove).
(4) That the report of the City Engineer on file with the City Clerk
and hereby designated Attachment "A" and made a part hereof con-
tains a full and detailed description of the improvements, the
boundaries of the territory to be annexed into the district, the
proposed assessments upon assessable lots and parcels of land
within said annexed territory; and said report is hereby approved.
(5) That said City Council does hereby give notice that on July 14, 1983,
at 7:00 P.M. at the regular session of the City Council of the City
of Palm Desert, a hearing will be held on the question of annexation
of said territory into the existing Landscaping and Lighting District
No. 2 and on the levy of the proposed assessments referred to in the
above mentioned City Engineer's report. Said Clerk of the City of
Palm Desert is hereby ordered to give notice of said hearing in
accordance with Section 22522, et. seq., of the Streets and Highways
Code of the State of California.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert,

ENGINEER'S REPORT
UESCRIPTION:
PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF TERRITORY TO
LANDSCAPING AND LIGHTING DISTRICT N0. 2
CITY OF PALM DESERT
Being a subdivision of a portion of Sections 29 and 30, T.S.S., R.6.E., S.B.6. & t�1.
as delineated on the attached map marked Exhibit "A" and labeled Tract Nos. 11636-2,
11636-3, 11636-4 and 11636-5.
DEFINITION:
City - Includes all corporation organized and existing for municipal purposes.
Street Li ht S stem - Includes any or all appliances, poles, posts, pipes, conduits,
a� a�her necessary works or appliances used for street lighting
purposes.
�+laintaining and 0 eratin - Or any of its variants, when used with relation to a
street �ighting system, includes the cost of necessary repairs, replacements,
fuel, power and all other items necessary for the proper maintenance and op-
eration of a street lighting system.
Landscaping Maintenance - Providing for the life, growth, health and beauty of
landscaping, including cultivation, irrigation, trimning, spraying, fer-
tilizing or treating for disease or injury. Includes the maintenance of
grass areas, trees, and other landscaping required pursuant to the develop-
ment plan approved by the City of Palm Desert, arid.the maintenance of the
automatic irrigation systems therefor.
Public �Wa - Includes all public highway, roads, streets, avenues, boulevards,
al�eys, parkways and other right-of-way of the public within the City.
SERVICE AREA:
The area to be benefited by the street lighting and landscape maintenance district
is as shown on the attached map marked Exhibit "A" and labeled as Tract Nos. 11636-2,
11636-3, 11636-4 and 11636-5. The public ways to be lighted within the district
are:
State Highway Route 74, Haystack Road, Ambrosia Street, Calliandra
Street, Alamo Drive and Heliotrope Drive.
LIGHTING SYSTEM:
The lighting system to be mafrttained and operated will consist of four (4) street
lighting po]es equipped with high pressure sodium vapor lamps. The electrical
energy is supplied by Southern California Edison Company through underground
