A RESOLUTION OF THE C1TY COUNCIL OF THE CTTY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNUI, RECTRNG THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUMCIPAL ELECTION
HELD IN THE CITY ON NOVEMBER 6, 1984, DECLARING THE RESULTS AND
SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY THE PROVISIONS OF LAW.
�HERE�S, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of
Palm Desert, California, on Tuesday, November 6, 1984, as required by law; and
�HEREAS, notice of the election was duly and regularly given in time, form, and
manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election
officers were appointed, and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and
the votes cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form,
and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 284 adopted January 28, 1982, the election
was consolidated with the State-wide General Election and the Registraz of Voters for
Riverside County canvassed the returns of said, election and has certified the results to�
this City; said results attached and ma�de a part hereof as Exfiibit "Pl".
NO�/, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm
Desert, California, as follows:
SECTION 1: That the whole number of ballots cast in the City except
absent voter ballots was 6,621.
That the whole number of absent voter ballots cast in the City was 922,
making a total of 7,143 ballots cast in the City. +
SECTION 2: That the names of persons voted for at the election for
Member of the City Council are as follows:
BARRIE J. WOODS
RAY OTT
KEITH MUIR
WALTER H. SNYDER
RICHARD W. KITE
SANDY BAUM
JEAN M. BENSON
BOB DOWNS
That the measures voted upon at the election were as follows:
Measure D: Shall the people of the City of Palm Desert, California, by
initiative ordinance, provide that only the owner of property may establish
the price for which such property may be sold, transferred, or exchanged in
accordance with the ordinance as proposed?
Measure E: Shall the people of the City of Palm Desert, California, repeal
the ordinance allowing commercial use and/or development under the
present Palm Desert Hillside Zoning Ordinance in the hillside areas of Palm
Desert? Hillside is defined as the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains
located west of the Palm Valley Channel and southwest of Highway 111.
This proposition shall be binding on the City Council of Palm Desert.
SECTION 3: That the number of votes given at each precinct and the
number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for
the Office of City Council for which the persons were candidates and for
and against the measure were as listed in Exhibit "A" attached. -
SECTION 4: The City Council does declare and determine that:
WALTER H. SNYDER and JEAN M. BENSON were elected as Members of
t e ity ounci o t e City o m Desert, California, for the full term of
four years;
That as a result of the election, a majority of the qualified voters voting on
MEASURE D did not vote in favor of it, and the Initiative was not carried
and shall not be deemed adopted and ratified.

That as a result of the election, a majority of the qualified voters voting on
MEASURE E did vote in favor of it, and the Proposition was carried and
shall be deemed adopted and ratified.
SEC"CION 5: The City Clerk shall entec on the records of the City Cauncil
of the City a statement of the result of the election showing:
l. The whole number of votes cast in the City.
2. The names of the persons voted for.
3. The measures voted upon.
4. For what office each person was voted for.
S. The number of votes given at each precinct to each person and for
and against each measure.
6. The number of votes given in the City to each person and for and
against each measure.
SECTION 6: • That the City Clerk shall imme�iately make and deliver to
each� of such persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City
Clerk and duly authenticated; that the City Clerk shall also administer to
each person elected the Oath of Office prescribed in the State Constitution
of the State of California and shall have them subscribe to it and file it in
the office of the City Clerk. Each and all of the persons so elected shall
then be inducted into the respective office to which they have been elected.
SECTION 7: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption
of this Resolution and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Paim
Desert, California, at its Adjourned Meeting held on the 29th day of November, 1984, by
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Jackson, Kelly, Puluqi, Wilson bc Snyder

ABSENT: None
ABSTAIIV: None

TO THE RESULTS OF THE CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS

I, ROBERT G. MORGAN, Registrar of Voters of said County, do
hereby certify that, in pursuance of the provisions of Sections
14 and 17081 of the California Elections Code, I did canvass
the returns of the vote cast at the General Municipal Election
and Special Municipal Election held in the CITY OF PALM DESERT
and consolidated with the Statewide General Election of November
6, 1984; and i further certify that the Statement of Votes Cast,
to which this certificate is attached, shows the whole number
of votes cast for each candidate for elective public office
at said General Municipal Election and for and against each
measure at said Special Municipal Election in said City and
in each precinct therein, and that the totals as shown for each
candidate and for and against each measure are full, true and
correct.
