A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING
RESOLUTION NO. 84-136 AND AUTHORIZING THE
FILING OF A CLAIM FOR CALIFORNIA PARK AND
RECREATIONAL FACILITIES ACT OF 1984 LOCAL
ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR THE PURPOSE OF
CONSTRUCTING A BOWLING GREEN FfICILITY AT THE
JOSLYN COVE COMMUNITIES SENIOR CENTER.
WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have enacted the California Park
and Recreational Facilities Act of 1984, which provides funds to the State of California
and its political subdivisions for developing facilities for public recreational purposes; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and Recreation has been delegated the
responsibility for the administration of the program within the state, setting up necessary
procedures governing application by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, said procedures established by the State Depactment of Parks and
Recreation require the applicant to certify by resolution the approval of application before
submission of said applications to the state; and
WHEREAS, said applications contain assurances that the applicant must cornply
with; and
WHEREAS, the applicant agency will enter into an agreement with the State of
California #or development rehabilitation or restoration of the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that ihe City of Palm Desert hereby:
1. Approves the filing of an application for 1984 state grant assistance for the
above project; and
2. Certifies that said agency understands the assurances and certification in the
application; and
3. Certifies that said agency has or will have sufficient funds to operate and
maintain the project, and if the project is selected for state grant funding; and
4. Certifies thai said organization will provide construction plans and
specifications to the state within one year of the appropriation of funds under
this program and will commence work immediately after state approval; and
5. Appoints the city manager as agent of the City of Palm Desert to conduct all
negotiations, execute and submit all documents including but not limited to
applications, agreements, amendments, payment requests, and so on, which
may be necessary for completion of the aforementioned project.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Palm Desert City
Council, held on this 29th day of November, 1984, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: BENSON, JACKSON, KELLY, WILSON, AND SNYDER
