HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 84-086RESOLUTION NO. 84-86 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A GENERAL MUMCIPAL ELECTION, TO BE CONSOLIDATED WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 1984, FOR THE ELECTION OF CERTAIN OFFICERS OF SAID CI1'Y AS REQUIRED BY THE PROVISIONS OF THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA RELATING TO GENERAL LAVi/ CITIES AND FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF A QUESTION RELATING TO THE SALE, RENTAL, TRANSFER �,� OR EXCHANGE OF PRIVATE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF PALM DESERT. WHEREAS, under the provisions of the laws relating to General Law Cities in the State of California, a regular generai municipal election shall be held on Novmber 6, 1984, for the election of two (2) Members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, as follows: SECTION 1: That pursuant to the requirements of the laws of the State of California relating to General Law Cities within said State, there shall be, and there is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Palm Desert, California, on Tuesday, November 6, 1984, a regular municipal election of the qualified electors of said City, for the purpose of electing two (2) Members of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. SECTION 2: That the City Council, pursuant to its right and authority, does order subrnitted to the qualified electors of the City at the General Municipal Election the following question: hall the people of the City of Palm Desert, California, ., y initiative ordinance, provide that only the owner of YES roperty may establish the price for which such property ay be sold, transferred, or exchanged in accordance ith the ordinance as proaosed? NO SECTION 3: That the proposed ordinance submitted to the voters is as set forth and contained in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof. SECTION 4: That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and ►natter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. SECTION 5: That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary in order to properly and lawfutly conduct said eiection. SECTION 6: That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until eight o'clock p.m. of the same day when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 7: That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. ; SECTION 8: That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such further � or additional notice of said election, in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION 9: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution; shall enter the same in the book of original Resolutions of said City; and shall RESOLUTION NO. 84-86 make a minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records o# the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the Minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
