GPA 87-2 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, Cal ifornia, did on the 14th day of May, 1987, hoid a duly noticed pubiic meeting to consider the Commercial Core Area Spectfic Plan and associated Negative Declaration of Environ- mental Impact establishing Planning and Redevelopment Agency policies for the City's Ei Paseo/Highway lll/Alessandro Drive commercial corridor. WHEREAS, sald application has complied with the requirements of the "City of Paim Desert Procedure for lmplementetlon of the California Environmental Quality Act, Resolution No. 80-89", in that the Director of Community Qeve�opment/Planning has determined that the project wtll not have an adverse impact on the environment and a �egative decleration has been prepared. WHEREAS, at said pubiic hearing, upon heartng and considering all testimony and arguments, if eny, of all tnterested persons desiring to be heard, said City Council did find the foilowing facts and reasons to exlst to Justify their approval: 1. The proposed land uses and polictes promote a more logical and compatible pattern of commerciei develop- ment than existing conditions. 2. The proposed polictes are designed to increase the economic potential of existing commercial areas while p�otecting adjacent residentiai areas from the potential negative impacts of increased commercial activity. 3. The proposed land uses and policies are consistent N1 th the goa i s of the Pa 1 m Desert Genera i Plan and w111 promote the health, safety and general welfare. N041, THEREFORE , BE I T RESOLVED by the C i ty Counc t i of the City of Palm Oesert. as follows: 1. That the above recftations are true and correct and constitute the findings of the City Council 1n this case. 2. That a negatfve declaration of environmental impact, "Exhibit A", is hereby approved.
