A RESOLUTION OF THE C[TY COUNCIL Of TFIE C1TY OF PALM DESERT.
CALIFORNIA. SUPPORTING THE SOUTNERN CALIFORNIA NATER POIICY.
WNEREAS, Southern California is a major center of business, cortxnerce
and agriculture. and home to more than half of the Golden State's people; and
WHEREAS, Southern California is a semi-arid desert dependent on water
supplies imported from distant sources to meet all or part of its needs; and
WHEREAS, Southern Californians concerned about maintaining adequate
water supplies have built extensive aqueduct systems to deliver these imported
water supplies; and
WHEREAS, an educated public must continue to make important decisions
in the future about maintaining adequate supplies of hlgh-quality water; and
WHEREAS. the Southern California Water Cortmittee has been formed to
educate the public about important wate� fssues; and
WHEREA5, the Southern California Water Cortmittee has adopted a water
policy that sets a framework for making important decisions about water supplies;
and
WHEREA5, this policy includes reliability of supply, preservation of
quality, cortmitment to conservation and affordability.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEO that the City Council of the City of
Palm Desert, California, does hereby support the water policy as the benchmark
against which future water decisions should be measured.
PASSED, APPROVED. and ADOPTED on this 25th day of
the following vote, to wit:
AYES: BENSON, SNYDER, WILSON, KELLY
NOES: NONE
ABSENT: NONE
ABSTAIN: CRITES
