HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RES 88-108RESOLUTION N0. 88-108 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,CALIFORNIA, AMEI�DING RESOLUTION NO. 88-81 WHICH CALIED AND GAVE NOTICE OF THE H6LDING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECT[ON TO BE NELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1988, AND TO BE CONSOLIDATED MITH ANY OTHER ELECTIONS BEING HELD IN 7HE AREA ON THE SAME DAY, FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE qUALIFIED EIECTORS OF THE CITY A MEASURE, PURSUANT TO THE ELECTIONS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, APPROVING AN INCREASE IN THE TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX IN SAIO CITY FROM 6X TO 8x OR 9x. AS APPROVED BY THE VOTERS OF PALM DESERT, AND APPROVING THE INCREASE IN ITS APPROPRIATIONS LIMIT FOR FISCAL YEARS 1989 THROUGH 1992. WHEREAS, the City Councii adopted Resolution No. 88-81 at its regular meeting of July 14, 1988, calling a special election for the purpose of submitting a proposed measure to the qualified electors of said City; and MHEREAS, it is necessary that the wording of said proposed measure be changed to meet the requirements of State. NOW, 7NEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Palm Desert, California, that Section 1 of Resolution No. 88-81 is hereby amended to read as follows: ' Sectton 1. There shall be, and there is hereby called `- and ordered held in the City of Palm Desert, Californla, on Tuesday, the 8th day of November, 1988, a Special Munictpal Election of the qualified electors of said city, and there is hereby ordered submi tted to the qua 1 i f i ed el ectors of said city, at said Special Election, the following questfon, to wit: MEASURE #1: Shall Ordinance No. 547 of the City of Palm Desert, California, be approved YES: increasing the transient occupancy tax in said City from 67. to 8�., and if approved, authorize the increase in the appropriations limit for the City of Palm Desert for fiscal years ending 1989 through 1992, with the base year for 1988/89 appropriations limit to be increased to $25,000,000. N0: 0 Resolution No. 88-108 _-, Page 2 A cross placed in the voting square after the word "YES" shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the ordinance and the increase in the City's appropriations limitations. A cross placed in the voting square after the word "NO" shall be counted against the adoption of the ordinance and the increase in the City's appropriations limitations. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all other sections of Resoluton No. 88-81 shall remain in full force and effect as adopted by the City Council at its meeting of July 13, 1988.
