; A RESOLUTION OF REAFFIRMAT[ON QF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
`— THE CITY OF PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA,
RELATIVE TO THE PRESERVATION OF THE VALLEY'S HILLSIDES
WHEREAS, the cltizens of Palm Desert have by referendum
prohibited all commerciai buildings on the hilisides of Palm
Desert; and .'
WHEREAS, the City Council of Palm Desert has consistently
recognized the vital economic and visual importance of the
mountain "viewscape" and open space surrounding our city; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Rosa mountains provide a habitat for rare
and endangered species of plants and animals and allow both
residents and visitors the opportunity to appreciate the desert
wilderness area without the intrusion of development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of Palm Desert, California, does hereby reaffirm its belief
in the need for preservation and conservation of the Santa Rosa
mountains, and that it continues to affirm both Palm Desert's
ongoing commitment to preservation and the efforts of others in
our valley to achieve that goal.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED by the City Council of the
City of Palm Desert, California, at its regular meeting held on
the 23rd day of June, 1988, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Crites, Kelly, Snyder, Wilson & Benson
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
