RESOLUTION N0. 88-81
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALM DESERT,
CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND G[VING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A
SPEC[AL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY.
NOVE MBER 8, t 988 , ANO TO BE CONSOL I DATED W i TH ANY OTHER
ELECTtONS BEING HELD 1N THE AREA ON THE SAME DAY, FOR THE
SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIF[ED ELECTORS OF THE CITY A MEASURE,
PURSUANT .TO THE ELECTIONS CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
APPROVING AN INCREASE IN THE TRANSIENT OCCUPANCY TAX [N SAID
CITY FROM 6x TO 8Z OR 9Z, AS APPROVED BY THE VOTERS OF PALM
DESERT, AND APPROVING THE INCREASE IN ITS APPROPR[ATIONS
LIMIT FOR FISCAL YEARS 1989 THROUGH 1992.
NHEREAS, pursuant to the California Elections Code, the
City Council has determined that the proposed measure shall be
submitted to the qualified electors of said City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Palm Desert, California, as follows:
Section 1. There shall be, and there is hereby called
and ordered held in the City of Palm Desert, California, on
Tuesday, the 8th day of November 1988, a Special Municipal
Election of the qualified electors of said city, and there is
hereby ordered submitted to the qualified electors of said
city, at said Special Election, the following question, to wit:
PROPOSITION "A":
Shall Ordinance No. 547 of the City
of Palm Desert, California, be approved YES:
increasing the transient occupancy tax in
sa i d C i ty from 69. to 87. or 9�., as approved
by the voters, and if approved, authorize
the increase in the appropriations limit
for the City of Palm Desert for fiscat
years ending 1989 through 1992, with the
base year assumption for 1988/89 appro-
priations of $25,000,000. N0:

A cross placed in the voting square after the word "YES" shall
be counted in favor of the adoption of the ordinance and the
increase in the City's appropriations limitations.
A cross placed in the voting square after the word "NO" shali
be counted against the adoption of the ordinance and the
increase in the City's appropriations limitations.
Section 2. That the ba 1 1 ots to be used at sa i d
election shall be both as to form and manner contained herein,
such as may be required by law to be used at it.
Section 3. The City Clerk of said City is hereby
authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any
and all official ballot notices, printed matter and all
supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be necessary to
prepare and lawfully conduct said election.
Section 4. The polls for said election shall be open '
at 7:00 a.m, on the day of said election and shall remain open
cont i nuous 1 y from sa i d t ime unt i 1 8:00 p.m. of the same day
when said polis shall be closed, except as provided in Section
14301 of the Elections Code of the State of California.
Section 5. That in all particulars not recited in this
resolution. said election shall be held and conducted as
provided by law for holding municipal elections in the City.
Section 6. That not i ce of the t i me and p 1 ace of
holding said election is hereby given, and the City Clerk is
hereby authorized, instructed, and directed to give such
further or additionai notice of said election in time, form,
and manner as required by law.
Section 7. The C i ty C 1 erk sha 1 1 cert i fy to the
adoption of this resolution and shall transmit a certified copy

thereof to the County Clerk of the County of Riverside.

PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED by the City Council of the
City of Palm Desert, California, at its regular meeting held on
the 14th day•of July, 1988, by the following vote, to wit:
